Description: This workshop is an introduction to politicized somatics. It’s designed both for people who are brand new to this methodology and for those returning to deepen their practice. We will cover core somatic concepts, establish the relevance of politicized somatics, and teach foundational practices that you can bring to your daily life.

In this workshop we will explore consent through embodied practice. We define consent as the embodied ability to be self responsive, assess a situation, and take action based on what you and others care about. Consent is a choice, rather than an automatic reaction. Through practice, we will explore our habituated responses that arise when navigating boundaries. We will practice saying a centered “yes”, “no”, and “maybe” in response to requests, and explore how embodied consent could shift our lives in positive and empowering ways.

Access information: All practices can be done seated or standing. Masks are optional unless specified for a specific workshop. If you have had a recent COVID exposure or COVID symptoms, please test negative before coming to a workshop. Sabathani has an elevator, and gendered bathrooms.
