Introduction to Somatics: Boundaries and Consent
In this introductory workshop we will cover core somatic concepts, establish the relevance of politicized somatics, and teach foundational practices that you can bring to your daily life. We will explore consent through embodied practice. We define consent as the embodied ability to be self responsive, assess a situation, and take action based on what you and others care about. Through practice, we will explore our habituated responses when navigating boundaries, and we will explore what a centered “yes”, “no”, and “maybe” feel like.
Somatics for Rapid Response Moments
Date: Monday January 26th 2026, 6-8pm
Location: New City Center, Sanctuary - 3104 16th Ave S Minneapolis, MN 55407
Cost: Sliding scale $0-$25, no one turned away for lack of funds
In the midst of a targeted invasion of our city by Federal ICE and Homeland Security, many members of our community are responding to threats by taking care of each other in many ways, including deportation defense and mutual aid efforts.
Amidst the pressures of this rapid response moment, this workshop will offer somatic practices to help regulate your nervous system, connect with yourself and others, and to stay present amidst the fear, anger and stress. We will equip you with simple tools that you can take with you and use in your day to day.
Anyone is welcome to attend - whether you have been taking lots of action in this time, or if you’d like to be more involved but have limited capacity, or if you haven’t yet found your way to plug in. Along with somatic practices, we will offer avenues to get involved in community organizing efforts against the threats our communities are facing.

Introduction to Somatics: Centered & On Purpose
What keeps us steady when the pressure is on? In this workshop, we’ll practice coming into contact with our deeper purpose—the “for the sake of what” that moves us into action. Together we’ll explore how to listen for that purpose, put it into words, and draw on it as an anchor that guides and sustains us in the midst of challenge.
